A capability page must state process, materials, tolerances, capacity, and certifications, because those are the attributes a buyer filters on and a generative engine can extract. A manufacturer website requires capability pages organized by process, material, and industry rather than a single services page.
Most manufacturer websites are organised around the company. Buyers search around the work. That mismatch is the single largest content problem in industrial search, and it is structural rather than editorial: no amount of better writing on a services page fixes a page that is trying to answer forty queries at once.
What a capability page has to state
Five attributes, and their absence is what disqualifies a page rather than their phrasing.
Process. Named specifically. Not "machining" but five-axis milling, Swiss turning, wire EDM.
Materials. Alloys and grades routinely run, not a category. A buyer with an Inconel part is looking for Inconel.
Tolerances. The tightest routinely held, stated as a value. This is the single most searched and most omitted specification in industrial content.
Capacity. Envelope, part size, batch range, and lead time posture. A buyer needs to know whether their part fits before anything else matters.
Certifications. With scope, not just the standard name. Scope is what a buyer matches against a requirement.
A page carrying all five is matchable. A page carrying adjectives is not, and the difference determines both classic ranking and whether an assistant can use the page to answer a constrained question.
One page per capability, not one page for all of them
A single services page covering machining, fabrication, and assembly matches none of those queries well. It competes with itself, dilutes every term, and gives a model nothing specific to extract.
The right unit is one page per process, and where volume justifies it, one page per process and material combination or process and industry combination. A buyer searching for a medical injection moulder is not searching for a general supplier who also moulds.

Never publish a fact only inside a file
Specification data locked in a PDF or rendered as an image is unavailable to search and to generative engines. A technical spec sheet PDF should be paired with an indexable HTML equivalent stating the same values in text.
This is the cheapest content win available to most manufacturers, and it is routinely missed because the PDF feels like publication. It is distribution, not publication. The HTML version is what gets found.
Where the quote path fits
Content strategy and quote request design are the same problem at two ends. The capability page qualifies the buyer, and the quote path has to accept the specification detail that a qualified buyer arrives holding.
