The capability page is the unit that gets found and the unit that gets cited, and it is where [manufacturing SEO](/manufacturing-seo) either works or does not. Everything else on a manufacturer's site supports it. This page states what belongs on one, in what order, and shows the structure working in a live result.

## The evidence, before the template

The usual objection to specialising a page is that a small manufacturer cannot outrank larger sites. That is checkable, so it was checked.

**A plating shop at domain rating 29 sits three positions above a directory at domain rating 66.** Four of the eight positions are manufacturers or equipment makers. The accreditation body owns the top, which is correct, because it is the subject of the query.

Two things follow. Authority is not the binding constraint on certification and specification queries. And the pages winning are the ones whose subject matches the query exactly, which is the entire argument for one page per capability.

There is a third observation worth more than either. **The anoplate page that ranks is an About page, not a capability page.** A general company page at DR 29 is beating a directory at DR 66 because it happens to state the accreditation. A properly built capability page would enter that result with an advantage nobody in it is currently using.

This is one query and eight positions. It is enough to refute the claim that a small manufacturer cannot compete on authority, and not enough to describe a market.

## Why the thesis holds

The measurement shows capability pages winning. The reason they win is upstream
of the result.

An industrial purchase narrows at specification, and specification is done by a
design engineer rather than by a buyer. A drawing naming a tolerance only a few
shops hold has already excluded everyone else, before any supplier is contacted
and before procurement is involved at all.

## The five required attributes, in order

**2. Materials, as grades.** The alloys and grades routinely run. A buyer with an Inconel 718 part is searching for Inconel 718, not for "exotic alloys".

**3. Tolerances, as values.** The tightest routinely held, stated as a number with its unit. This is the most searched and most omitted specification in industrial content.

**4. Capacity.** Envelope or part size, batch range, and equipment count. A buyer needs to know the part fits before anything else matters.

**5. Certifications, with scope.** The certificate, the registrar, the date, and the scope statement as written. Scope is what a buyer matches against a requirement, and a certification named without scope forces a question that a buyer assembling a shortlist will not ask.

## The sections that follow

## What to leave out
